I’m replacing my kayak with hiking boots and my kayak paddle with walking poles, and I am going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro!
I would like to thank you for visiting my page and taking an interest in my journey! For someone who spends most of her time in a kayak, I can’t wait to be on my feet and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for a cause as important as this!
I decided to take on this challenge because I’m inspired by UNICEF Australia's work. I also love an opportunity to push my own boundaries and experience something completely new! I truly appreciate the quality of readily available healthcare that all Australians, no matter what their age, have access to. Not only will my participation in the UNICEF Kilimanjaro Climb for Kids 2014 allow me to demonstrate this gratitude, but it will also give me an opportunity to contribute to the good health of thousands of impoverished African children.
I would be thrilled for you to share in my journey by making a donation using the ‘Give Now’ button. With your support, I will be able to raise funds for UNICEF’s Mobile Health Nutrition Teams. These teams target places where no other access to healthcare is available. In 2013, UNICEF’s mobile health teams treated more than 440,000 people; and of those, 163,000 will be children under the age of five.
How your contribution helps:
$270 Provides life-long protection for 1,000 children against measles.
$504 Provides 1,200 sachets of therapeutic food to help restore the health of malnourished children.
$610 Turns 500,000 litres of dirty water into drinking water through the provision of water purification tablets.
$1,732 Helps ensure the safe delivery of 50 babies via the provision of a Maternal Health Kit for a maternity ward.
The more people that know about UNICEF Australia, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. THANK YOU in advance for your generosity!!
